Abstract
This paper presents a phytosociological study of grassland communities in the transition zone between the Mediterranean and Temperate regions in the interior of southern Croatia. Thirty-two vegetation relevés were carried out according to the phytosociological approach of Braun-Blanquet. A new association belonging to the Saturejion subspicatae alliance and characterised by hemicryptophytic dominance, namely Saturejo subspicatae-Scabiosetum delminianae, including three subassociations – typicum, jurinetosum mollis and dalmatocytisetosum dalmatici is described and discussed from a floristic and ecological point of view.
